A school built by a community
Meridian Learning Foundation is a Massachusetts nonprofit organization. We’re building a different kind of school: academically ambitious, deeply human, international by design, and intentionally small.
That kind of school doesn’t fit neatly into the economics of traditional education.
Instead of asking every family to pay the full cost of education, we’ve chosen a different model. Families contribute through tuition, and supporters who believe in the future of education help cover the rest. Together, that allows Meridian to remain small, flexible, and accessible to families who otherwise couldn’t join.
Why do we need a foundation?
Most schools operate in one of two ways. Some are fully funded by governments. Others are entirely funded by tuition.
Meridian is different.
We’re designed as a nonprofit educational organization because we believe that education is a public good. Families should invest in it, but they shouldn’t have to carry its entire cost alone.
The Foundation allows us to:
- offer meaningful financial aid;
- keep class sizes intentionally small;
- attract outstanding educators without turning education into a luxury product;
- build new educational programs that can be shared openly;
- invest in long-term quality rather than short-term growth.
How Meridian is funded
Every student’s education is supported by several sources.

Approximately:
- 40–50% — Tuition paid by families
- 50–60% — Donations from individuals, foundations, and partner organizations
This model lets us welcome students based on potential rather than family income alone.
It also gives us room to make educational decisions for the long term instead of optimizing for enrollment numbers.
Where donations go
Every contribution supports the educational experience directly.
Examples include:
- Financial aid for families
- Teacher salaries and professional development
- Student projects and research
- Learning materials and technology
- Residential campus experiences
- Curriculum development
- School operations and infrastructure
As Meridian grows, we’ll publish annual reports describing how funds are used and how the Foundation develops over time.
Transparency isn’t an extra feature for us. It’s part of how we work.
Financial transparency
We’re committed to making our finances understandable.
As the Foundation grows, we’ll publish:
- annual budgets;
- annual reports;
- major fundraising milestones;
- impact updates.
We want supporters to know not only how much was raised, but what became possible because of it.
Ways to support Meridian
Make a donation
Every gift helps build a school that can remain accessible, independent, and academically ambitious.
Whether it’s a one-time contribution or ongoing monthly support, every donation matters.
Become a partner
We’re looking for foundations, companies, and individual philanthropists who believe that education can be reimagined.
Partnerships may support:
- scholarships;
- new academic programs;
- residential sessions;
- research;
- teacher fellowships;
- specific long-term initiatives.
If you’d like to discuss a larger partnership, we’d love to hear from you.
Family contributions
Many families choose to support Meridian beyond tuition.
Some sponsor financial aid.
Some introduce us to potential partners.
Some volunteer their expertise, offer internships, host events, or simply spread the word.
Building a school takes far more than money.
Who supports Meridian?
Right now, Meridian is supported by a growing community of families, educators, advisors, friends, and early believers who share our vision.
As our community grows, we’ll recognize supporters who wish to be acknowledged publicly.
Building something that lasts
Meridian is still at the beginning of its journey.
Every donation today does more than fund a school year.
It helps establish an institution that we hope will serve students and families for decades.
